Muay Thai originated in Thailand and contrary to what most people think Muay Thai is very different from the kind of Kickboxing practiced in most parts of the world.
Although there are significant similarities between each style of Kickboxing, the key difference is that Muay Thai allows the use of elbows unlike in regular Kickboxing.
And when compared to regular boxing, which uses two contact points (two fists) or kickboxing (four points of contact), Muay Thai uses eight points of contact, utilizing every part of the body in both attack and defense mode.
Muay Thai has the rare quality of being both simplistic and beautiful; and on the other hand, super effective and if need be, brutal. Aside from the obvious self-defense benefits, Muay Thai Kickboxing also provides one heck of a workout that’s unlike any other.
